Malmö is proud to host the second Gaelic Football tournament of the season. Keep checking this page as we will add more info closer to the tournament on the logistics and the schedule of the tournament.
The tournament will take place all day on the soccer and rugby pitches at Limhamnsfältet, as shown on the map below.
The get there from the city centre, you can take the number 7 bus towards ‘Ön’ and get off at ‘Potatisåkern’, which is right beside the soccer field. Alternatively, Malmö is pretty compact so it is easy to jump on an electric scooter or Malmö by Bike and taxis shouldn’t be too expensive.
There are plenty of toilets and water fountains along the beachfront near to the fields. We will have some water containers and will try to keep them topped up by the registration tent for anyone who needs to re-fill their bottles.
While we don’t have physical changing rooms by the fields, we will have tents by the pitch for shelter in case of bad weather and these can be used to get changed before/after the tournament. Unfortunately, we don’t have showers for after the games but at least you can enjoy a swim afterward.
Group matches will last 25 minutes (2 x 12.5), with the final lasting 30 minutes (2 x15).
In the men’s tournament, four of the five teams teams will play two matches in a row, but the schedule allows for a 15 minute break between each game.
The hurling exhibition game is for anyone who would like to take part, we will have hurleys and helmets for anyone who wants to join in.
The tournament after-party will take place in Fagan’s Irish Pub. We will have the trophy presentations here and the Dublin-Mayo All-Ireland semi-final will be shown live on the big screen. Fagan’s will have a special offer on a burger and beer for anyone taking part in the tournament (vegetarian/vegan options are available).
