Malmö Ladies Look to Take Back The Trophy
Malmö Ladies were unable to make it 3 in a row last year having won the 2013 and 2014 Nordic Championships. The Ladies are determined to get back to winning ways and their eyes are firmly fixed on taking back the Nordic Championship title this year.
The team heads to Copenhagen for their first match of the Nordic Championship on Saturday. The 2nd Round will be a straight head to head between Malmö and Copenhagen. Over the last few years, these games have been very fiercely competed. The rivalry will be renewed on Saturday with Malmö hoping to make it another win over Copenhagen.
A win for Malmö would put them to the top of the Nordic Championship alongside Stockholm, the Round 1 winners. A huge incentive for ladies.
The loss of a number of players have reduced the squad for 2016. However, many of the players from the 2013 and 2014 winning squad remain with the likes of Sadie Childs, Jeanne Hansen, Sarah Viktoria Engman, Cecilia Andersson, Theresa Kresse, Lina Knudsen and Katriona Gordon all expected to feature in Copenhagen.
A few returning faces will bolster the team. Emilie Bratt is one of the class of 2013/14 who didn’t play with Malmö last year. However, she is hoping to pick up where she left off with a win on Saturday. Last years addition of Tressan will be the only Irish player within the squad.
Confidence is high among the team. With a win giving a joint top place going into the final round of the Nordic Championship, Malmö Ladies will be going all out for the win. If they can recapture their winning ways of 2013 and 2014, the ladies will be in pole position to take home the Nordic Championship 2nd Round win.
